Ted's house took the brunt of a hail storm in 2024, which damaged his roof and turned his vinyl siding to Swiss cheese.
The house an older build, and some of the previous choices made were not serving the homeowner well, and ran well-afoul of established building codes. The house did not have an adequate moisture barrier, and the decking under the roof was woefully inadequate. Gaps in the skip sheathing made it impossible to install new shingles.
After removing the vinyl, we came back with house wrap and more robust LP siding, sure to stand up to future storms!
We also decked the entire roof with new plywood (OSB) before installing Class 4 IKO asphalt shingles.
In addition to installing new shingles, we also added turtle vents to make sure the attic had proper ventilation. This helps the roof to breath, preventing the build up of moisture, which can result in interior damage, and even mold! We also replaced a broken window.
Finally, this house pops with the freshly applied dark green body and white trim. For this project, we used Sherwin Williams Emerald Exterior Latex, which will help protect this home from mold and mildew for years to come!
